One of poker’s biggest stars has been banned from streaming on Twitch after a recent outburst directed at one of his viewers in the chat.

Daniel Negreanu was, at least temporarily, booted from Twitch, according to a Twitter post from a bot that keeps track of banned streamers. The Twitter account, @StreamerBans, states in the bio that it is not associated with Twitch in any way.

Sunday afternoon, the account tweeted that “DNegsPoker” had been banned. The account used the hashtag #firstban in the post, and in the tweets following the Negreanu announcement, it used the hashtags #thirdban and #fifthban in the reporting of other streamers getting booted, making it likely that the six-time WSOP bracelet winner will be allowed back on Twitch soon. The 46-year-old has been using the platform to livestream his play in the online WSOP events.

The move by Twitch comes a couple days after Negreanu went on a profanity-laden rant during one of his WSOP online streams. During the July 24 $400 no-limit hold’em eight-max event, one viewer in the chat made a comment that set off the GGPoker ambassador.

During the 40-second tirade, Negreanu told the viewer that he would “break his f***ing teeth” and “feed them to him anally.” The clip picked up steam and was shared all over social media with varying reactions.

According to Negreanu’s Twitter feed, the viewer made crude remarks about Negreanu’s wife, Amanda, who is a former poker reporter, presenter and host of the now-defunct PokerStars’ show The Big Game.

Aside from the controversy, Negreanu has enjoyed a very successful 2020 online WSOP. He has cashed 15 times thus far for a combined $36,033. His best finish came in the second event of the series, an 18th-place finish in the $1,000 no-limit hold’em eight-max deepstack event for $5,849.

Just before the start of the series, he announced that he was willing to bet up to seven-figures on whether he will earn his seventh bracelet this year.

Negreanu did not respond when asked for comment, but announced that he would be making a statement later in the day.

Update: Negreanu announced that he would read a prepared statement during his scheduled live stream of today’s WSOP event on YouTube, but busted the first hand after starting the stream. He gave an “apology” and talked with viewers in the chat for 16 minutes. You can watch the entire clip below.
